The club was pleased that the Zone Chairman agreed to induct a new member Maureen Williams into the club on his recent visit.

The club wished to recognise one its members for the tremendous work he did for the club before he had a stroke. To do this it was agreed that the Lion of the year Trophy be renamed the Chris Burton Trophy and it would be a new one.

At the first meeting of the new President's year Chris and Maz came along to present the New trophy to the winner chosen by members. There are normally  two club members that know who is going to get the trophy the President as he or she is the one that present's it and the secretary!!!!. Well---This year it was only Chris and the secretary that knew the winner.
Here you see Chris presenting the Trophy to a totally surprised President Paul who is a very worthy winner.


                                       


What follows Charter celebrations---- Hand over dinner which was a very enjoyable chinese evening held in Ampthill. After a short thank you speech by Lion President Martin, he then presented the Charter to incoming President Lion Paul.   Lion Martin wished Lion Paul all the best for his year ahead.
                                            


 At the Clubs  annual Charter celibration held on the 22nd May 2011 at  the Mount Pleasant Golf Club Lower Stondon, Lion President Martin Stynes  together with the District Governor presented a very worthy recipient  Lion Meriel Davies a Melvin Jones for her sevices to Lionism. The charter lunch and venue, together with friends old and new was enjoyed by all. Lion president Martin is now in the home straight with the handover Dinner next where Lion Paul McGovern will take over as President.

At the recent handover dinner Lion President Tony Wilson awarded Lion Yvonne Reeve  the "Lion of the Year" trophy for her dedication to community service. All members vote as to who should receive this award.

The next duty Lion President Tony Wilson  had to carry out was to hand over to the incoming President Lion Martin Stynes the clubs charter and in doing so Lion President Tony wished him every success for his year in office.
